How to read the result
A shortfall is a planning signal. It does not predict failure because estimates, scope and available help can change.
Example
Five working days at four usable project hours per day create 20 hours of capacity. If 27 hours of work remain, the current assumptions contain a seven-hour shortfall.
What to watch for
- Use usable project hours, not the full length of the working day.
- A shortfall can be addressed through scope, timing, resourcing or other commitments. The calculator does not choose which lever to change.
