How this tool works
Enter two options, up to five factors, each factor importance and the rating of each option. The tool calculates the baseline weighted scores, then changes one factor weight at a time to show whether modest changes reverse the leading option.
How to read the result
A result that changes easily is sensitive to your assumptions. That does not make the decision invalid. It tells you that the close result deserves judgement, more information or a discussion about which factor truly matters.
Example
Option A leads by two points. Lowering the importance of commute from 5 to 4 makes Option B lead. The result is therefore sensitive to how strongly you value commute, which is more useful information than the original two-point gap alone.
What to watch for
- Do not invent extra precision in ratings just to force a winner.
- Treat close and unstable scores as a prompt for judgement rather than a mathematical verdict.
- Check whether a missing factor matters more than small changes to existing weights.
