Understand Your Workload

Work-Life Time Allocation Calculator

Visualise how a 168-hour week is divided across work, sleep, caring, commuting, health, relationships, recreation and unallocated time.

Use this when you want to see where the 168 hours in a week are going before making broad claims that one area is taking “all” your time.

How this tool works

You enter weekly hours for work, sleep, caring or household responsibilities, commuting, health or exercise, relationships or family, and recreation. The tool adds them and compares the total with 168 hours.

How to read the result

The output is a time-distribution view, not a health or work-life-balance score. A category occupying many hours may be necessary, chosen or temporary. The useful question is whether the allocation matches your current responsibilities and priorities.

Example

A week might contain 45 hours of work, 56 hours of sleep, 14 hours of caring, five hours of commuting and 12 hours of recreation. Seeing the remaining hours makes the hidden space and overlap easier to discuss.

What to watch for

  • Avoid double-counting overlapping time, such as commuting while working on a call.
  • Do not interpret the chart as a prescription for how many hours each life category should receive.

Privacy

Your entries are processed in your browser by this tool. They are not submitted to ZeroStress or stored on our server.

Limitations

Use the result as a planning aid. ZeroStress tools do not diagnose stress, anxiety, burnout or any other medical or psychological condition. Financial tools provide arithmetic and scenario comparisons rather than personal financial advice. Important medical, legal, financial, safety or other professional decisions require appropriate professional advice.

Frequently asked questions

What if my entries exceed 168 hours?

The tool flags the overage because at least some categories probably overlap or an estimate is too high.

Does the tool tell me whether my week is healthy?

No. It only shows how the hours you entered are distributed.
